This is my final year of university, meaning I have to create my final year project. I wanted to have a goal for the final year to motivate me with this project and create something that is very design based. My current idea is to create a 3D animation aimed at being the ident for the Animex Animation Festival held at my university, but can also stand alone as a short animation. My piece will be a maximum of a 1 minute long but I will be aiming for around 40-50 seconds. This should ensure I get it done in time if I work on it over the summer holidays.
The current story is about a young girl who is learning to make origami, but isn’t having much luck. She has only been able to make paper aeroplanes which are rather simple. She is disheartened and looks over to where the paper aeroplane should have been and find its missing. After looking around her room she discovers the plane outside in the street and goes to pick it up. This is where the plane takes a life of it’s own and flies off. The girl chases after it through winding streets and alleyways until she comes across an entrance to an old shrine garden. Curious, she enters the garden to find a wonderful place full of real life origami animals.
The story is very much in the works as I don’t feel it gels well with my character design and the story doesn’t seem strong enough.
